The Radio Nigeria Hausa broadcast on the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) with contents of a heavy dose of hausa literary and popular cultural and traditional forms.

This is the contents of many other programmes of the radio station. In 1962, FRCN was established as Radio Kaduna, with a figure of 50 million listeners at any given time within Nigeria.

It would be said that FRCN had the most listeners of any radio station not only in Nigeria but in the whole of the West African Sub-Sahara Africa.

Of which the most popular of FRCN prgrammes are the hausa dramas. Encouraged by their success in the Hausa programmes, in 1980s, FRCN station introduced a multi channel broacast in Fulfulde, Kanuri and Nupe languages.

Programmes in Fulfulde language, Kanuri language and Nupe language are trasmitted on the same frequency as the English language programmes, since the station broadcasts programmes on two different frequencies: an English service and a Hausa service.

The English service programmes are transmitted for 19 hours every day, from 5.30 am to 12.30 am. Which are largely English dramas of modern urban problem; news magazines, current affairs and political programmes.

The English dramas and enlightenment programmes are usually focus on modern urban issues; even the entertainment programmes play foreign, particularly western music and other cultural forms. Local and indigenous cultural forms are found mainly in the Hausa radio programmes.

A big thanks to Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, hausa radio listening has increased enormously to the majority of the Hausa speaking people of nothern Nigeria, but the see it as a Hausa cultural and tradition value.

It is found that listeners tunrd to Radio Nigeria Kaduna, the BBC Hausa service, the VOA Hausa service, Radio Peking, Radio Deutsche Welle Hausa service, the former Radio Moscow service, in that order of importance.
